SS Leviathan United States Lines Folding Postcard Dinner Menu Onboard Correspondance (Vintage PC 1930)

rare folding illustrated souvenir correspondence card/dinner menu from the ss leviathan, flagship of the united states lines (formerly the german liner "vaterland", seized by the usa in wwi).

one panel shows an illustration of the ship with handwritten "s.s. leviathan" caption and united states lines advertising text listing offices in new york, chicago, london, berlin, hamburg and paris.

the postal panel is franked with a us stamp bearing a company perfin, postmarked "united states lines" 1930, addressed to mrs. karl bachmann, zurich, switzerland, with an illustration of the "sky line, lower new york, u.s.a." and a lengthy handwritten german letter (dated oct. 10th 1935 in the text) describing a rough atlantic crossing with roughly 1500 passengers aboard.

a further panel features a washington monument illustration with promotional text describing the leviathan as "world's largest ship", opposite a full onboard dinner menu (hors d'oeuvres, soups, fish, entrees, roasts, vegetables, potatoes, salad, dessert, cheese
