original vintage real photo postcard - no reprint!
gelatin silver print
antique real photo postcard (rppc), dated 24th october 1929 per pencil inscription on reverse ("24/x 1929"). the photograph shows an active construction site with a deep excavated pit, in which workers are building a large circular wooden structure/formwork, likely for a well shaft, cistern, or similar underground structure. timber bracing and cross-beams form the circular frame within the pit.
several workmen in period work attire (flat caps, overalls, high boots) are posed around the site - some seated on the edge of the pit, others standing directly on the wooden framework below. building materials, planks, tools, and excavated earth are scattered around the site, giving a good sense of the scale and nature of the construction work.
the reverse bears the standard printed "carte postale" heading along with the handwritten date, but no stamp, postmark, or written message - the card was never mailed. exact location is not identified.
a well-preserved example of early 20th century construction/engineering photography, of interest to collectors of real photo postcards, industrial and construction history, and occupational/working life images.
