origin/date: written in accra on november 18, 1939.
destination: celerina (graubünden, engadin), switzerland.
franking: two king george vi gold coast stamps, canceled in accra.
postal history highlight: features a clear, red triangular "passed by censor" stamp from the early months of world war ii.
the postcard is written in german by a swiss expatriate named walter zumbrunnen. notably, the sender's return address is listed as "c/o u.t.c. p.o. box 543, accra". the union trading company (utc) was a prominent swiss trading firm linked to the basel mission, heavily involved in the west african cocoa trade and retail sector during the colonial era.
