Benagaria / India: Market Place Santal Mission - Sent To DDR (Vintage PC 1954)

vintage missionary postcard from india titled "markedspladsen i benagaria" (the marketplace in benagaria), located in jharkhand (formerly bihar), north-east india.
the front shows a busy outdoor village market scene with santal people, featuring a woman in the center carrying a basket and water pot on her head, and a handwritten caption on the right edge reading "marktplatz in benagaria - indien".
the card is historically significant as it was written at the mission station in asansol on october 31, 1954 (dated "asansol 31-10-54") and addressed to fraeulein e. taeubrich in dresden, ddr (east germany).
