Rare Historical Colonial Military Postcard – Lehnert & Landrock (LL) No. 6507
A fascinating piece of North African colonial history combining early 20th-century studio photography with an authentic French military field message from the Zaian War era in Morocco.
Front: Titled "6507 SCÈNES ET TYPES. – Jeune Négresse. – LL." Features a beautifully tinted/hand-colored studio portrait by the renowned photography duo Rudolf Franz Lehnert & Ernst Heinrich Landrock (LL).
Back: Features the official "LL" logo stamp in the center. Contains a highly important handwritten French military message sent by a soldier stationed in Morocco.
Military Content & Historical Context (ca. 1914–1920):
Sender's Unit: 11e Compagnie, 9e Bataillon Colonial, Kasba Tadla (Maroc).
Handwritten Text: "partie de la colonne qui se rend à Khénifra pour chercher la 2e Compagnie, celle de Lucien, qui y tenait garnison..."
Historical Relevance: The text directly references a dangerous military troop movement (column) heading to the strategic outpost of Khénifra during the French pacification of Morocco (Zaian War), making this an exceptional document for Militaria and French Foreign/Colonial Army collectors.
