the photograph captures the historic stock exchange palace palacio da bolsa on the left and the newly erected monument dedicated to prince henry the navigator monumento a o infante dom henrique in the center. the right margin of the photograph features handwritten new year greetings in german ink script dated porto 29/12 1902.
the reverse side shows an undivided back with a prominent printed advertisement for the hotel de francfort in porto, managed by proprietor francois babel, detailing modern amenities like telephone nr. 472, moderate prices, baths, and electric light.
the card was mailed to st. joachimsthal in bohemia, austria, and bears a highly distinct circular town arrival postmark from sankt joachimsthal dated 1.1.03.
