Philatelic Satire: Abschied Der Alten Bayer Marke Bayern Stamp (Vintage PC 1920)

vintage german philatelic satire postcard from 1920 titled abschied der alten bayer marke farewell to the old bavarian stamp.

the illustration shows a crying bavarian woman holding a large handkerchief wearing an apron designed like a red 10 pfennig bayern coat of arms stamp. she carries baskets full of discarded stamps on her back and on the ground with the silhouette of the munich frauenkirche towers in the background and the lyrics muss i denn zum staedtle hinaus.

the reverse side contains a handwritten message in german kurrent from emil to herrn august groezinger in ravensburg.

it features a green 5 pfennig bayern stamp overprinted d r for deutsches reich cancelled with a clear munchen postmark from april 1920.

printed by ottmar zieher munich card number 4245.
