vintage collotype/lithograph postcard titled avenches - vue générale showing a beautiful panoramic view of the historic town of avenches (aventicum) in the canton of vaud, switzerland.
the image captures the old town on the hill with its historic church tower, the castle (château d'avenches), and the surrounding rolling landscape. the front includes a handwritten greeting in german dated october 20, 1904.
the back features an unseparated back layout of the weltpostverein / union postale universelle. it bears a red 10 centimes helvetia stamp (cross and garland design), canceled with a clear avenches postmark dated october 20, 1904. it also includes a circular traveling postmark (ambulante) and is addressed to fräulein hildegard bender in brackenheim, wuerttemberg, germany (allemagne).
