rare vintage ethnographic postcard titled "ruthenen auf dem wochenmarkt. ein in den karpaten lebender volksstamm." showing a group of carpathian ruthenians / rusyns in traditional winter folk clothing and fur coats at a local weekly market. published by verlag carl pieper, braunschweig.
the card was printed during world war i, as indicated by the publisher's imprint noting his military service on the eastern front in the reserve feldartillerie-regiment nr. 48 (res. f. a. r. 48, l. m. k. ii.).
the card is unposted and unwritten.

the reverse features a blank "feldpostkarte" layout.
