genuine 19th-century albumen silver photograph depicting the historic curtis sawmill and its massive 24-foot waterwheel at tamborine mountain, queensland, australia.

built around 1888-1889 by the curtis brothers, this overshot waterwheel powered a local sawmill near curtis falls to process red cedar and eucalyptus timber.

the image features a distinct signature in the negative at the bottom left reading piggott foto. while the original scene was documented by pioneer photographer poul c. poulsen around 1892, this specific print represents a contemporary commercial release distributed through the well-known piggott photographic studio in Queensland during the late 1890s.
the photograph is mounted on its original pink cardboard backing, a type of colored mount highly popular during the 1880s and 1890s.

the photograph is in good stable condition with nice detail and a warm sepia tone typical for albumen prints of this age. the front shows minor silvering and age-related fading.

the original pink mounting card has bumped corners and edges.

the reverse side shows paper loss and adhesive residues at all four corners where the photo was long ago removed from a private album.
