antique original 1901 stereoview photograph card published by the H.C. WHITE CO from north bennington vermont usa.

titled 3975 arranging the hair of a japanese woman an elaborate ceremony.

this card belongs to the edition de luxe series patented april 14 1903. the stereograph captures an intimate indoor studio scene in japan during the meiji era showing a hairdresser carefully styling the long hair of a japanese woman. both are wearing traditional kimonos and are seated on tatami mats inside a room with shoji screens and a decorative painted screen in the background.

mounted on the original dark gray curved cardboard stereoscope mount.

an excellent historical collectible for enthusiasts of japanese culture meiji era geisha history and early asian ethnographic photography.

size: ~ 9 x 18 cm (1 cm ~ 0.39 inch)
