original vintage postcard - no reprint!
vintage monochrome collotype (Lichtdruck) postcard from 1906, titled "ZÜRICH · Sechseläuten! · ZÜRICH".
Published by the well-known local publisher Monopol (No. 133, Zürich) and signed with artist initials J.K.-K.
The front celebrates Zurich's famous traditional spring festival, "Sechseläuten". It features a charming group of five children holding hands in traditional historical guild costumes from the famous children's parade (Kinderumzug), set against a panoramic background view of the city of Zurich, the Limmat river, Lake Zurich, and the snow-capped Swiss Alps.
Postal History: The back is fully intact with outstanding postal history. It features a complete and cleanly canceled green Swiss 5 Centimes "Standing Helvetia" stamp, postmarked twice with "Zürich 2 (Fil. Bahnhof)" on April 22, 1906. It also shows a clear German arrival postmark from Aichstetten (Württemberg) dated April 23, 06. A wonderful piece for collectors of Swiss local traditions, Zurich regional history, or early 1900s postal history.
