original vintage dutch picture postcard showing a woman in traditional goesche / south beveland costume from zeeland, the netherlands. the front is captioned "zeeland. goesche boerinnen."
published by j. h. schaefers, amsterdam, as part of his platino edition.
the postcard was mailed in september 1914 to don miquel vila in palma, mallorca, spain. the reverse bears dutch postage stamps, postal cancellations from assen and a "drukwerk" marking. this is an especially interesting example for collectors of dutch regional costumes, zeeland, early postcards, postal history and deltiology.
the image depicts traditional protestant south beveland costume from the goes area. comparable historical postcards of zeeland costumes are documented in the collections of the zeeuws archief, including cards dating from the early 20th century.
