Denmark: Fano National Costume Posted To Mallorca (Vintage PC 1910s)

original vintage colour illustrated postcard captioned "fanø", depicting a young woman in the traditional costume of the danish island of fanø, wearing a headscarf and colourful bodice, knitting a stocking.

franked with two danish 2 øre stamps, sent as printed matter ("tryksager") from copenhagen.

sender's cachet reads "georg lytzhøft-sørensen, strindbergsvej 53, københavn-valby".

sent to sr. d. miguel vila, calle de fiol nº 9, palma de mallorca (islas baleares) - a postcard collector who exchanged cards with correspondents across europe and north africa in the early 20th century, several via this same r.e.c.p. network.

an attractive orientalist view combined with a rare, tangible piece of early deltiology and philatelic exchange history.
