modelling and sculpture in the making by sargeant jagger - first edition 1933, the studio ltd, london & new york
antique hardcover book on sculpture and modelling techniques by the renowned british sculptor charles sargeant jagger (1885-1934), creator of the royal artillery memorial at hyde park corner.
this is the true first edition, published in 1933, and a scarce find in the market. part of the "how to do it" series, it includes 33 black and white photographic plates showing jagger's own working methods alongside analyses of famous sculptures including rodin's burghers of calais.
no dust jacket present, but the book itself is in very good condition overall - clean boards with the striking photographic cover image well preserved, tight binding, and clean pages throughout with only minor age-appropriate wear consistent with a book of this age. an important primary source for anyone interested in modern british sculpture, jagger's work, or early 20th century art instruction manuals.
