historical german feldpost postcard from world war i.
the front shows the missionshaus der vaeter vom hl geist (st florenz mission house) in zabern elsass (now saverne, alsace, france).
the reverse side features a handwritten message in german, dated september 8, 1914 (8.ix.14). it includes a clear postmark from zabern dated september 9, 1914 (9.9.14). the postcard was sent as free military mail (marked feldpost) to emmy coppen in heidelberg, rosenbergweg 7.
the text mentions that the mail service is highly irregular due to the local railway line being completely occupied by military troop transports, noting that things are going quite wild. the sender also references another facility in walscheid.
