vintage spanish-language propaganda postcard from the first world war documenting the Italian front. the front features a real photograph of italian infantry soldiers standing alert in a heavily fortified trench, wearing early protective gas masks and helmets while holding rifles.
the bottom margin features a biting propaganda caption in spanish reading la guerra en el frente italiano. los soldados italianos se defienden de los gases asfixiantes, invencion de la civilizacion alemana. this translates to the war on the italian front. italian soldiers defend themselves against asphyxiating gases, an invention of german civilization.
the back is formatted as a generic spanish tarjeta postal with a standard vertical divider line and address fields.
