beautiful and highly collectible antique illustrated postcard from mexico dated 1923 with an incredible collector correspondence on the back side.
the front shows a vivid collotype printed image of a historic street scene at the famous jardin de la corregidora public square in santiago de queretaro with local people wearing large mexican sombreros.
the unique philatelic highlight of this postcard is the front franking featuring three different colorful vintage mexican postage stamps a orange 5c stamp with provisional government overprint gp de m a purple 1c eagle stamp and a red 4c jose maria morelos stamp all tied to the card with circular postmarks from 1923.
the reverse side features a fascinating handwritten message in spanish from collector j martinez addressed to the prominent postcard collector mr miguel vila in palma de mallorca spain.
in the text the sender thanks mr vila for his previous card and shares the exchange address of another contemporary collector located in guatemala Central America proving the global network of postcard clubs during the 1920s.
