the front side is based on an official photograph credited to original aufnahme und verlag von ed zinsel hofphot darmstadt and includes various handwritten greetings in german kurrent script across the top and bottom margins dated 27.2.05.

the reverse side features a green 5 pfennig germania stamp from the german empire cancelled with a clear circular postmark from darmstadt dated february 28 1905.the card is addressed to fraeulein emilie mauss in allmendshofen post donaueschingen baden and features a clear arrival postmark from donaueschingen dated february 28 1905.
